Translate: Polish German Russian
Tim Cahill plays his domestic club football in the English Premier League wearing the football jersey of Everton FC. Cahill says he will return to Australia for next months opening FIFA World Cup qualifier against Qatar if called upon by national team coach Pim Verbeek. Cahill is amongst many Socceroos plying their trade in European leagues who Verbeek is considering calling up for the February 6 match to be played in Melbourne. The Dutch coach is also accessing his available talent in the domestic A-League before naming his final squad. For all of the European based players, if called up by Verbeek they will face the challenge of the long travel needed to play in Australia. Many players will play on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday before the game and would only arrive in Melbourne on Monday afternoon. This only gives them two days to recover from the long haul flight of some 20 hours and to fit in a couple of training sessions. Cahill and several other overseas based players have committed to putting on the green and gold soccer jersey and playing for Australia if called upon. I'm available for Australia any time, Cahill told local radio. Everton have league games scheduled either side of the qualifier, against Blackburn on 2 February or Reading on 9 February. Cahill has been in great form in the Premier League since returning from a left foot injury. He has scored three times in his past four league games and is Everton's second-highest scorer this season with six goals.
